Brent Paulhus 47, The Passing of

Brent F. PaulhusBrent Paulhus was a friend of many and along with his twin brother Bryan graduated from Newburyport High School in 1984.  Brent passed away today after a long fight with ALS.  His courage and life will be celebrated for as long as there are people alive who know him and media available to watch.  We wish the Paulhus family our condolences and give them our prayers and support.  Brent vowed to fight til the end. He did.

Brent was also the sibling of Lisa and older brother Jeff Paulhus.

Knowing Brent’s caring personality he fought to the end for his family and friends, so as to limit and postpone their suffering and loss.  Many friends and family fought, prayed, campaigned, and helped Brent in so many wonderful ways over the years, showing him the innumerable ways to say – we love you.  In the end it was Brent who showed us how much pain a human can endure, while still trying to smile and making you think you’re the most important and interesting person in the room.  The “Paulhus Twins” Brent and Bryan are very well known in the Greater Newburyport area and have etched positive memories into many of  us.  Our condolences to Brent’s Family.  We hope Brent’s life and his struggles are remembered for many a millenia.  Here’s to backflips in Heaven.  God Bless You Brent.

  1. I just recently found out about Brent’s passing while in town for Yankee Homecoming 2013. During high school I lived in the neighborhood (on Pine Street) and knew the Paulhus brothers from the ‘Joppa flats Bus Stop’. They were all such good guys and now God has one of them. May God bless you all.

    • Thanks Jeff. I remember taking the same subway train to State St as Brent going into Boston. He is a great guy! I like that…”The other brother.” I am the oldest brother too, and depending where I am, I too am the other brother. If you ever want to add anything to the site, about the Paulhus’s or anything let me know. My condolences to you and your family.

  3. My brother Jamie and I have fond memories growing up and hanging out with Jeff, Brent and Bryan. Seemed like we were always outside playing some kind of sport in the Broad/Carter/Warren street neighborhood (does anyone do that any more?). So sorry to hear of Brent’s tragic passing. My prayers are with you and the family.. All the best my friends!
